Munnar in Kerala is one of the most sought after destinations for honeymooners across the world. It has contributed to the states popularity as a travel destination among domestic and foreign travellers with its wide range of attractions. The fact that Munnar is located around a confluence of three mountain streams namely Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala gains attention of nature lovers, photographer and tourist. Since the hill station of Munnar is perched at approximately 1600 metres, it is an important spot for the adventure seekers. Since Munnar used to be the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in south India, it finds a special place in the heart of all the history lovers. Moving on to Thekkady, we get to witness images of flora and fauna like the elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. One of the finest wildlife reserves in India, the Periyar forests of Thekkady is located here. Nature admirers can enjoy the picturesque plantations spread across the entire district. Adventure seekers have great opportunities for treks and mountaineering here. Going ahead towards the village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Further ahead, we reach Alleppey or Alappuzha which is referred to as the Venice of the East. Alappuzha is an important place in the history of Kerala and is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry.
Day 1: Cochin Cherai Beach
Arrive at Cochin Airport and our representative shall meet and escort you to the beach hotel at Cochin Cherai. Enjoy the day at the beach and night tour of Cochin City and Marine drive. After a fun-filled day, enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Cochin to Munnar (145 kms 4hrs drive via NH-49 OR SH-16)
Visit Fort Cochin and transfer to Munnar, en-route view the Cheeyappara Waterfalls. At Munnar, check-in to the hill resort. Spend some candid moments with your special someone followed by a special candle light dinner. End your day with flower arrangement on bed and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Munnar
Munnar sightseeing of Madupetty Dam, Lake and Echo point. Shop around for some local souvenirs and handicrafts during the evening. Experience the hub of tea factories and dont forget to get yourself the farm fresh tea of export quality. The day concludes with an overnight stay at the hill resort.
Day 4: Munnar to Thekkady ( 85kms 2hrs drive via NH-41)
Move on to Thekkady to take a glimpse of Periyar the Wildlife Reserve and the hill station. Check-in to the resort and after a while, visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, the spice plantations followed by an elephant ride. Thereafter, return back to the resort for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Thekkady to Alleppey(140 kms 4 hrs drive via NH-40)
The journey continues as we move on to Alleppey. Here, you'll be required to check-in at the houseboat that will take you to an enticing cruise of the backwaters of Kuttanad by 12 p.m. The exciting cruise lasts till evening after which you will be taken for a guided village tour and fishing. The day concludes with a special candlelight setting for dinner and an overnight stay on-board.
Day 6: Departure Alleppey to Cochin(55kms 1 hr drive via NH-47)
The cruise that includes a warm breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and lasts till 9 a.m. Checkout is done by 9 a.m. from where our representative escorts you to Cochin airport. You also have an option to enjoy the visit to Alleppey beach and extend the sightseeing to Fort Cochin if you have some time left before departure.
